Sold down the river

In case you hadn't guessed, here is the film from the last post



The funeral scene from Four Weddings and a Funeral.  It's an inspired setting for the film. You can see the church and the industrial works as you cross north to south on the Dartford Crossing....I've always wanted to see it close up.

Anyway, we were lucky enough to steam down the Thames on 'the worlds only sea-going paddle steamer' - the Waverley.  They even opened Tower Bridge for us...which even at our great ages was very exciting!

It took five hours to sail from Tower Bridge down to Whitstable, where we ate oysters before returning on the train.  A terrific day out highly recommended for everyone, but watch out for the ship spotters...here's a pictorial of the day in no particular order.
