A woman's work is never done....by a man

I did ironing on Sunday night. I did ironing on Monday night. I did ironing tonight. An hour a piece. I iron quite quickly, but not very often. And I should be doing ironing tomorrow night. But instead I'm going out for a drink.

I loathe ironing more than I can say. And as soon as it's done, it needs to be done again. Who invented ironing, and why can't we just go round in crumpled shirts. I'm sure it would look cool.

The boy can iron. He does it when I go on strike. I might strike more often.

  1. Me, too. Thankfully, none of Charlie's stuff needs ironing (yet). But you should see Sally's school uniform...

  2. Have one for me, a drink, not an ironing session, I have an ex husband to do that !

  3. I'm with you. I hate ironing, but as soon as you have done a load, another load pops up as if by magic. I find an hour at a time is all I can take. It helps to have the radio on at full blast with some pop music that I can sway to, to work up a rhythm!

  4. Life is too short for ironing!

I iron only under duress. You can pretty much get away without it. Here are my tips:
Hang things like shirts on coat hangers as soon as you get them out of the washing machine.
If you are hanging things on a line or clothes horse to dry, 'smooth' them down with your hands and gently pull the creases out.
If you are using a tumble dryer, fold things up neatly as you put them in - this reduces the creasing. Honest.
Don't iron stuff like bedlinen - what's the point? You're only going to sleep on it.

That said - I am an excellent ironer on the rare occasions, and short of work/money. Shall we say a fiver a shirt? ;)

  5. Dotterel - I think they should start young with ironing their own stuff...

AG - I'm challenged on the ex-husband front, but I'll have a drink anyway

    Rosiero...a whole hour? You're brave!

Sixpence - thanks for the tips...I'm passing them on to the boy in hope
